Burundi: The military clique in power is ready to move on to the final phase of the genocide underway since 2005 (part 4)
We are continuing our approach with the 10 stages of genocide. Based on the study of Gregory H. Stanton, we have seen that the first step is classification. In Burundi, the Hutus are distinguished from the Tutsis and this was accentuated with the arrival of the cnddfdd to power which initiated the use of the term « Abenegihugu » instead of « Abanyagihugu »; a thinly veiled distinction to speak of Hutus (abenegihugu) and Tutsis (abanyagihugu); as they speak of EX FAB (to speak of Tutsi soldiers or police) and Ex-Pmpa (to speak of Hutu soldiers and police).
According to Gregory, the second step is Symbolization. It is the identification of people as such (Jews, Tutsis, for example). They are distinguished by symbolic colours or clothing.
In Burundi, it was difficult to distinguish at first glance a Hutu from a Tutsi. People with the same skin colour, with the same language and the same culture. The Belgian colonist stuck to the Burundians distinctive signs between Hutus and Tutsis. It was, as we have seen in our previous editions, a way to differentiate them, to show that they have nothing in common, to divide them in order to lead them with great ease. For him, the Tutsi is a tall, slender man with a pointed nose and fair skin; when he defined the Hutu as a short, stocky man, with darker skin
Dominique Franche considers that the physical differences on which the supporters of the Hamitic hypothesis rely would not be relevant, since there would be no more difference in size between the Tutsis and the Hutus. For him, the differences noticed by the colonist could be explained in large part, during this time, by a differentiated diet: The Tutsis, nobles but above all herders, traditionally drank more milk and ate more meat than the Hutu, farmers; their diet was therefore richer in protein.
Let’s put aside these theories of Belgian scientists and settlers to say that in Burundi, a small country, everyone knows each other. During the crises that shook the country, 1965, 1972, 1988, 1993, and since 2005, the Hutus were not mistaken about the Tutsis to be killed; even the soldiers, who sometimes went through blind repression, were not mistaken about the Hutus. Some have invented a new theory to say that instead of being wrong about these ethnic groups, it is better to kill your own (aho kwihenda wokwihekura). A theory of extreme barbarism used especially during ethnic cleansing in the neighbourhoods of Bujumbura.
Today, it is apparently difficult to distinguish who is Hutu, who is Tutsi, especially with certain mixtures between parents of different ethnicities or among the children of VIP Hutus (the rich and the intellectuals)
However, the ruling military clique is never wrong in its ’targeted assassination’ ’operations. With his intelligence system, knowing that he is a Tutsi when he needs to be eliminated is a matter of hours. In addition to intelligence service, they set up their imbonerakure militia which are scattered over all the hills of the country; who are in the neighbourhoods (some serving as servants, both in Hutu families and in Tutsi families) who have completed all the work of identifying Tutsi families across the country. Some even shared the tasks so that when the whistle was blown, each group would know precisely which family to go to liquidate it and recover its house and property in its possession (remember the theory «  Kora = pass to the ‘action’ by Reverien Ndikuriyo, former president of the Senate). Likewise, in the hills, in different provinces, the families of Tutsis were all identified and placed under the responsibility of a group of imbonerakure living in their environment.
URN HITAMWONEZA will never stop screaming always reminding that the large-scale genocide in Burundi is a matter of the day. Everything is in place to take action, all that’s left is a simple pretext or trigger. All this device of imbonerakure who divided up the families of Tutsis to be killed with the whistle is known; weapons were distributed to these imbonerakure (at least 5 AK47 per hill); the Burundians seem to be in a deep sleep and the international community turns a blind eye to these facts; she will wake up afterwards. It is therefore up to Burundians concerned about the country’s future to stand up and take all the necessary measures to nip in the bud this criminal project of the military clique led by Evariste Ndayishimiye.
